MBC assisted our client by providing an assessment of the existing conditions in the marine and wetland environments in the vicinity of a proposed desalination plant located adjacent to the AES Huntington Beach Generating Station. The proposed desalination plant would use power plant circulation water for source water and discharge concentrated seawater by-product water through the AES outfall structure. MBC reviewed technical documents and modeling studies and described potential effects of the by-product water on the marine environment in the area of the discharge.
